FROM JAMAICA TO MAACO: AN ENGINEER’S INCREDIBLE FRANCHISE JOURNEY

Driven by a passion for cars and a dream of an education, 18-year-old Robert Reid journeyed from Jamaica to the U.S. to get his degree in Mechanical Engineering. With a degree in hand, Robert spent 14 years in corporate America climbing the ladder from Production Manager to Plant Manager to Manufacturing and Performance Director.

But, being his own boss was always on his mind—and in his blood as both parents were small business owners. At the age of 36, he said “goodbye” to his corporate career and “hello” to his dream of being a business owner in all things automotive.

Robert Reid“When I looked at franchise opportunities in the automotive space, I found that Maaco fit my criteria for the type of business I wanted to own and the financial potential I wanted to achieve,” said Robert, Franchise Owner of the Maaco location in Mansfield, Texas, which opened in February 2017. He liked that Maaco is an established brand with almost five decades of experience and proven processes that spoke to his engineer’s mind.

It was one of the best decisions Robert ever made. In his second year in business, he nearly doubled his output in 2018 and is positioned for significant increases in 2020.

He credits Maaco University, the company’s training program, and personal and online support from the Maaco Leadership Team and other Maaco Franchise Owners as keys to his success.

Maaco’s robust in-person and online support tools include:

  • Easy-to-use operational dashboard to view KPIs, etc.
  • An online management portal to track your analytics, online bookings, etc.
  • An online hub to connect with other Franchise Owners to share ideas and best practices across markets
  • World-class, ongoing training that involves brand-wide conventions and quarterly meetings with a field support specialist
